Maria Antonia Pons-Estel, violinist, born in Son Carrió, Mallorca is professor of violin at the Conservatori Professional de Música i Dansa de Mallorca, and professor of violin at the Conservatori Superior de Música de les Illes Balears.

She had previously given lessons on chamber music at the Conservatori Superior de Música de les IB and classes of violin and piano at the Conservatori Professional.

She currently lives in Mallorca and divides her time between teaching and performing, both as a recitalist or as a member of chamber music groups.

She has made the following recordings:

2001: Second Prize of Contemporary Catalan Music, of the Fundación l’Arjau, Barcelona

2000: First Prize “Tramuntana” at the nacional violin competition of  Sóller, Mallorca

1997: Best Violin Graduate of the year, Zaragoza

1995 y 1996: two scholarships to specialize inSpanish Music at “Música en Compostela”, given by the Foreign Office of Spain.

She has placed as a soloist and recitalist in:

Education:

She studied violin and piano at the Conservatorio de Mallorca, and later on, she continued studying at the conservatories of Barcelona (Bruch) and Zaragoza, under the artistic direction of Pascal Martin Beyens, where she graduated obtaining the Graduate Diploma of Violin Teacher, ending with a grade of A+, and the Prize of Best Graduate Violin of the Year. As a recipient of two scholarships of “Sa Nostra” she studied at the Mannes College of Music de Nueva York, from 1997 to 2000, when she graduated. In 2002 she got her Diploma of Professor of Chamber Music at the Conservatori del Lliceu in Barcelona.
